Advent & Christmas 2018

Families with children or youth wanting to read the lessons at our Christmas Eve services or participate in a pageant on Christmas Eve should contact the church office as soon as possible.  Please indicate how your child/youth would prefer to participate.  There will be a rehearsal after the Posada on Sunday Dec. 23.

Sunday, Dec. 2       First Sunday of Advent.  Our Advent wreath will be lit at each service.       

Saturday, Dec. 8     Homemade Christmas Cookie Sale, 9:30 – noon.  You choose tempting,  delicious cookies by the pound.

Saturday, Dec. 8      St. Nicholas Night, 5-7 p.m.  Supper provided.  Tree-decorating, singing, crafts and more.  Kindly bring a beverage or a dozen Christmas cookies to share.  Optional: Bring a wrapped gift under $5 (nothing fragile) for a gift exchange.  RSVP to 203-743-1494 by Wednesday, Dec. 5.

Sunday Dec. 9        Second Sunday of Advent.  After 10 a.m. worship, “Operation Christmas Cookie” deliveries will be made to our town’s first responders.

Sunday, Dec. 16      Folk Mass for the Third Sunday of Advent, 10 a.m.  During worship, we will line our manger with strips of cloth representing our preparation to receive the Christ Child at Christmas.

After 10 a.m. worship, we will “red” the church for our Dec. 22 concert and Dec. 23 Fourth Sunday of Advent


Saturday, Dec. 22    4 p.m. “Songs of the Season,” a beautiful candlelight concert featuring the students of our youth music director, Phoebe Madden.  Free admission.  Reception afterward in Pople Hall.

Sunday Dec. 23       After 10 a.m. worship come to Pople Hall for our Posada.  Who will break the piñata?  After the posada, children and youth rehearse for Christmas Eve.

Monday, Dec. 24     4:30 p.m. family service; 9:30 p.m. traditional service

Sunday Dec. 30       Communion service at 8 a.m. Lessons & Carols plus Communion at 10  a.m.
